According to the survey, more than two thirds of American are overweight or obese. Today, overweight is one of the most common problems related to the lifestyle. It is a key factor in the development of many chronic diseases such as heart problems, respiratory diseases, diabetes, hypertension and some cancers as well as early death.

Obesity rates have more than doubled in adults since the 1970’s, according to the National Center for Health statistics, 2009. It is a widespread problem and continues to be a public health problem in the U.S. It becomes a very serious problem, as it is increasing day by day among children, adolescents and adults. It is higher in black women as compared to white, and tend to increase with age. These findings may not sound as a surprise to us, as we can notice our generations is facing weight problems critically. An unhealthy lifestyle or wrong eating habits contributed to our overweight or obesity problem.

Most people love to eat oily or junk food, especially the children. They do not take a proper nutritious diet, which is very important for them to get protection from several major diseases. Moreover, they do not have time to do any kind of physical exercise. Physical exercise is also very necessary for a good health. These problems can pose a huge and growing financial burden on national resources. However, these are largely preventable through sensible lifestyle changes.

Causes of Overweight and Obesity

Energy imbalance between calories consumed and calories expended, is the basic cause of overweight and obesity. In addition, some other causes are given below:

An increase in physical inactivity due to increasingly sedentary nature.

An increased intake of energy dense foods that are high in fat.

It is a non communicable disease and can be treated by changing the lifestyle. There is no need to take any kind of medication, by doing some regular exercises and taking nutritious food such as green vegetables, juices and food that are high in protein and vitamin, you can easily cure it.
